The history about Jemeluk is known mainly due to its elderly people who give information that the name “Jemeluk” had been known far before the kingdom of Karangasem existed. The name “Jemeluk” comes from the Balinese word, “seluk”, which means bay or cove.

JEMELUK BAY STATUES [LEFT SIDE]
The bay began to be explored in the 1980s. Projects to expand the natural reef were launched. The mermaid statues “Apsara’s” were sunken in 2013 under the project “Living sea” sculptures on the left side of the bay. In the center some concrete structures. You will also find around a Barong figure (on the right side of the sandy slope). The artists were Wayan Winten and Eddi Prabandono. The sites are truly ideal for all types of activities, from macro photography to diving courses. You’ll find treasures here thanks to the diversity of marine life.

JEMELUK BAY - SUNKEN BOAT
The bay is a true treasure trove for all diving enthusiasts. On the left, you’ll discover a shallow coral garden, gently sloping down to 17 meters. Continuing on, you’ll reach the coral wall. Deeper down, on a sandy slope, at 36 meters, rests an old speedboat. Here, you can regularly encounter tuna, triggerfish, jacks, and sometimes eagle rays.

JEMELUK WALL [RIGHT SIDE]
A favorite spot for night dives! Marine life is abundant, day and night. Giant gorgonians, a splendid coral garden, and a drop-off covered with colorful soft and hard corals. It’s here that you’ll find the well known small temple of Jemeluk, 4 meters deep. Trevally, reef sharks, and schools of mackerel are common.
